PEDAGOGICAL DOCTORAL STUDENTS IN CHINA UNDER PRESSURE: AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF CSSCI JOURNALS

The prerequisite for doctoral students in Chinese universities to obtain their degrees was publish a certain number of papers designated journals, which is the main pressure on China. This study focused publication pedagogy China under policy breaking ‘five only’, aims diversify evaluation criteria academic quality and reduce reliance paper publications. analyzed data 36 pedagogical CSSCI journals from 2016 2020, examined trends patterns publishing articles these journals. also explored factors that influence pedagogy, such as admission system, expansion enrollment, recruitment system young teachers. results show are declining dominated by well-known scholars institutions. Doctoral face more severe situation than university teachers, they have graduate compete limited journal space. They application-appraisal “promote or leave”. suggests colleges need break through quantitative students’ achievements pay attention training culture promote physical mental health development.
